Jon Cottrell - Founder
Jon founded The Search Mechanics back in 2015, having realised there were a lot of small digital agencies needing PPC support, but not quite having enough work to get someone in full time.
Having worked on the likes of Dell Europe, Universal Film & Music, EA Games and Mazda UK, he has a wealth of experience in the PPC industry, helping clients maximise their spend via Google Ads.
Outside of work Jon likes riding mountain bikes, motorbikes, skateboarding and snowboarding - generally doing anything that tells him his body is not 18 years old anymore!
One of his favourite quotes is "We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing."
James Smith - SEM Consultant
James initially began working with The Search Mechanics as their dedicated Google Account Strategist, and joined the team in 2019.
Whilst at Google, James worked directly with a mixture of direct clients and Google Ads agencies. As a result, he has built and managed literally hundreds of campaigns across a wide range of different sectors and industries.
An old man born tragically young, James does occasionally try strenuous activities like rock climbing and cycling, but is generally at his most content sitting in a chair and ranting about the state of the world.
